the challenge.

Burnout, stress and overwhelm costs an organisation creativity, productivity, innovation and money.

According to the Health and Safety Executive, 12.8 million working days were lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2018/19.

Purposeful work tends to attract empathic, passionate, emotionally intelligent individuals, who often find themselves taking on emotional responsibility for others. Over time, such empathic, passionate and emotionally intelligent individuals can lose resilience. This, unfortunately, leads to burnout, stress and overwhelm, and can cost an organisation creativity, productivity, innovation and money.

Members of staff at senior levels can find they don’t have the capacity to serve their team, beneficiaries, trustees and the public to the degree that they would like. It can feel frustrating and overwhelming, particularly when so often not-for-profit organisations are firefighting against high levels of sick leave and high levels of staff turnover.

our solution.

We identify three main groups within an organisation: leadership, management and staff.

We know that a leadership team can do a lot of wellbeing work only to find it incredibly frustrating to implement new ways of being and working when the rest of the organisation is still holding on to the same issues, challenges and stories. Likewise, if we do work with the wider staff team, and encourage them to change behaviours and perspectives, the work can be lost when leaders and managers aren’t onboard.

At Bird we inspire leaders and managers to take ownership of their wellbeing and resilience, and to model that confidently to the rest of the organisation. We then work with the wider staff teams to equip them with skills and tools to support themselves and each other.

We deliver wellbeing workshops to all members of staff across an organisation, creating a collective sense of resilience.
